Alexia Vernon

Founder, Step into Your Moxie

“You have figured out how to be able to help people in one of the most vulnerable roles that one can inhabit, parenting.

One of your superpowers is really giving people a space to anesthetize themselves from shame, and bring in playfulness.”

Tosha is available to speak at conferences, companies, practices, and schools.

Here is her signature presentation that she adapts depending on the audience.

What to Do Instead: Real-Life Strategies That Support Growth—Not Guilt

Drawing on over two decades of experience supporting parents of “hard kids,” this presentation challenges the traditional approach of controlling children’s behavior through punishments and rewards—methods proven ineffective by modern brain science… and modern families.

Through relatable stories and research-backed insights, I explore why these strategies often backfire, building walls of frustration and disconnection for both children and the adults who care for them. Spoiler alert: threats and bribes rarely work, no matter how creative you get.

Instead, attendees will discover a powerful alternative: disciplining through connection. This approach not only addresses children’s emotional needs, but also honors and supports the emotional well-being of the adults doing the hard work of parenting, teaching, or caregiving. You’ll leave with practical tools to reduce conflict, strengthen relationships, and foster lasting, positive change—for everyone involved.

Serious topics.

Engaging presentation.

What Audiences are Saying

“To truly support families, practitioners need more than just the high-level concept of connection—they need a solid foundation in how to implement it effectively. When therapists gain this fluency, they feel more confident, competent, and at peace in guiding parents through the shift.

Our practice has seen firsthand how this knowledge strengthens teams, deepens impact, and positions us as leaders in the movement toward a more peaceful approach to parenting.”

Erin Morgan, Owner, Cascade Therapy Group

“Attending this workshop with Tosha was one of the most valuable steps I’ve taken to becoming a better parent…

Tosha delivers the message with clarity, heart, authenticity…

Watching her model how to interact with children using these tools was the greatest gift and will stay with me for a long time, helping me to bring greater love, compassion, and skill to my interactions with my children.”
